Uganda has officially announced the details of its upcoming match against Somalia. This clash will take place as part of Matchday 8 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Uganda national team will face off against their Somali counterparts at the Mandela Stadium in Kampala on September 8, 2025. This decision was confirmed by the Uganda Football Federation on August 13, 2025, through its social media channels. Ugandan supporters now know exactly when and where to rally behind their national team on home turf.
This confirmation comes after weeks of uncertainty regarding the venue and date of the match, largely due to logistical challenges and requirements from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Ugandan authorities have stated they are ready to welcome the visitors and ensure a smooth and successful matchday.
For Uganda, this game is pivotal in their quest for a historic World Cup qualification. Players and coaching staff are well aware that September marks a crucial turning point in their qualification campaign. Currently, Uganda sits fourth in its group with 9 points from 6 matches—just 3 points behind second place and 5 adrift of the leaders, with only four games left to play.
