With the women’s USA team bringing so much international success to the country, there is added pressure on the men to succeed, or at least get to the knockouts of the World Cup.

The USMNT will be wanting to prove that they can battle the best in the world and hopefully the 2022 World Cup is when they prove it.

Who could USA start at the 2022 World Cup?

USA arguably don’t have many world-class stars; however, they have a very bright future and a lot of their current squad definitely have the potential to be world-class stars when they get to their prime.

They have also not had the best build-up to the 2022 Qatar World Cup as they lost 2-0 to Japan and drew 0-0 to Saudi Arabia; however, they will go to the tournament with no fear as they know many will underestimate them.

Here is GiveMeSport’s predicted USA starting XI for the World Cup:

USA 2022 World Cup Predicted Lineup

Formation: 4-3-3

  • GK: Matt Turner
  • RB: De Andre Yedlin
  • CB: Walter Zimmerman
  • CB: Aaron Long
  • LB: Sergino Dest
  • CM: Weston McKennie
  • CM: Tyler Adams
  • CAM: Brenden Aaronson
  • RW: Claudio Reyna
  • ST: Ricardo Pepi
  • LW: Christian Pulisic

As you can see, the USA squad is full of talent. Players like Turner, Dest, McKennie, Adams, Aaronson, Reyna and Pulisic all play in the top five leagues in Europe for teams like Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus, Leeds, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

There is hope that these players can show their big level experience and help the USA reach the knockouts. With their group featuring Iran, Wales and England, there is definitely a possibility for them to reach the last round of 16; however, they have to be at their best every game.
