Early in November, we brought you news (see below) of a Kevin Keegan initiative from Wor Flags.

They revealed that they were planning a special tribute to the great man.

Wor Flags asking for donations to help make this Kevin Keegan tribute happen.

It was widely expected amongst the NUFC fanbase that this special KK display would be planned for the Liverpool game, as he had played for both clubs.

However, Wor Flags then gave this update just ahead of last night’s match, revealing that this would not be the case.

Wor Flags gave this Kevin Keegan/Liverpool match update via their social media:

‘Liverpool (H)

Thanks to your incredibly generous donations, we have all the makings of a display fit for King Kev. We’re excited to share this with you in the future.

This week however, we felt the timing called for something different.

Howay the Lads.

To clarify, we will still be doing a Kevin Keegan display in the future and none of the money raised for the Keegan display specifically has been used for another display.

We are just letting everyone know it won’t be this week.

We always try our best to set the right tone at matches based on the feeling at the time, from that it’s clear that our message needs to be for the current group and to try help create a massive atmosphere on Wednesday night.’

Well, Wor Flags called it absolutely perfectly.

Set exactly the right tone with this display ahead of Newcastle 3 Liverpool 3…

The Mag report – 6 November 2024:

The departure of Mike Ashley meant the return of Wor Flags to matches, as they ended their boycott.

The pre-match flag displays once again becoming part of the matchday routine.

Ahead of the first home match of the 2022/23 season, Wor Flags invited all fans to consider helping them with future flag displays by setting up a regular monthly donation to assist in funding them. See below how to get involved.

Wor Flags now asking Newcastle United fans to keep on doing their bit to help them, especially with their latest initiative.

Wor Flags message via their social media – 6 November 2024:

Alongside a photo of Kevin Keegan, the message:

‘We have got something big planned! Please help us do it justice by making a donation:’

When you click this LINK, it invites you to make your choice of contribution, from £1 upwards, your:

‘2024 Kevin Keegan Display Donation’

I can’t see any mention of exactly when this Kevin Keegan special display is planned for BUT fair to assume I reckon, that we are looking at exactly four weeks today, when we have Newcastle v Liverpool at St James’ Park on Wednesday 4 December 2024.

The Wor Flags ‘goal’ explained:

‘Our Goal

Wor Flags goal is straightforward – to create displays at St James’ Park that are worthy of this great club. We will achieve this in the following ways:

Hundreds of black and white hand-held waver flags

Larger custom design one and two poler waver flags

Large text banners featuring messages of support

Foils, surfers and custom tifos’

On behalf of everybody who visits The Mag, we signed up in summer 2022 to make a modest regular monthly donation to help fund Wor Flags and that is ongoing.

If you would like to join us and make a personal individual contribution, then please go HERE, where you can set up a monthly donation (from as little as £1 per month and upwards) to Wor Flags, or a one-off contribution.
