While Lage was pleased with his side's endeavour, he felt they were deserving of all three points.

He told Amazon post-game: "We dominated all the game and especially when you play against a team against Burnley you need to win the duals and the boys were fantastic today and we won all the goals. We created some good chances, but we didn't score. That is the Premier League. It was a big opportunity to win points, but tonight it is just one point and now it is time to recover.

"The opponents will know that we can create changes now and if teams come with the attitude like Burnley – they are compact and aggressive – then they know we can do the same. I am happy in that way, but I am frustrated because I think we deserved more.

"People can understand our way of working after 14 games. We were very happy with how Adama Traore is playing – he missed a chance but he played well.

"We need to continue our way – it is a long journey. Every game is hard to play – the most important thing is what the players do. We tried to play our game – we were there. We won all of the duals. The three centre backs will really well to control the game."
