Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in a deal to bring Jung Sang-bin to Molineux in the January transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Korea Joongang Daily, who claim that Jeff Shi is keeping a very close eye on the situation of the Suwon Bluewings forward ahead of a potential swoop for the 19-year-old in the coming days.

The report goes on to state that, should Wolves complete a deal for the South Korea youth international this month, the winger would immediately be sent out on loan Grasshopper Club Zurich – whom Fosun have close ties with.

Finally, it is mentioned that the Premier League side are no strangers to the talents of Korean footballers, with the club having recently confirmed the £14m permanent signing of Hwang Hee-Chan.

Deadly duo

Considering the sheer amount of potential that Jung quite clearly possesses, it is easy to see why the Wolves transfer team are reported to be eager to snap the centre-forward up this month.

Indeed, having broken into the Suwon Bluewings first-team last season, the £765k-rated striker wasted no time in making a name for himself, scoring six goals and providing his teammates with two assists over 28 K League 1 appearances – only 23 of which came as starts.

Furthermore, it would appear that there are extremely high hopes for the future of the versatile forward – who can also play on the right-wing – in his native country, with Korea Joongang Daily reporting that the 19-year-old is already being referred to as the “Korean Mbappe” in the footballing circles of South Korea.

Which club did Wolves loan Willian Jose from in the 2021 January transfer window?

Celta Vigo Real Betis Sevilla Real Sociedad

As such, should Shi indeed manage to get a deal over the line for Jung this month, following the recent signing of Hwang, the Wolves executive chairman could well form something of a deadly Korean duo at Molineux – leading us to believe that the club must do all they can to land the 19-year-old during what remains of the winter transfer window.
