Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement with Fluminense for the signing of Jhon Arias, according to the Telegraph’s John Percy.

The move follows the departures of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City.

Manager Vitor Pereira hopes to be backed after guiding Wolves to a stable finish last season. The Portuguese tactician played a crucial role in shifting the momentum during a challenging campaign.

When Pereira arrived, Wolves were hovering around the relegation zone under Gary O’Neil. However, he guided them to safety with several matches to spare.

His efforts earned the board’s trust, and this latest signing signals intent. The Colombian international will provide much-needed attacking quality.

Arias adds pace, flair and creativity to Wolves

Arias can play in several attacking roles and will offer Wolves flexibility in the final third. His intelligence off the ball and sharp movement in tight spaces make him a real threat.

He is especially effective in the half-spaces, where he can create overloads and supply dangerous passes. His ability to find gaps and exploit transitions suits Pereira’s attacking system.

Known for his speed, direct approach and work ethic, Arias often beats defenders and creates chances out of nothing. He rarely wastes possession and works hard both with and without the ball.

The £15 million deal is a shrewd business move. Arias has already proven himself for club and country, and Wolves will be hoping he adapts quickly to the Premier League.

With more signings expected, Pereira is on course to build a balanced squad that can push for a stronger campaign in 2025/26.
