Wolves are in talks with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi, according to The Athletic.

The central defender is entering the last year of his contract and is unwilling to sign an extension. It’s been reported for some time that the Swiss international would leave Gladbach this summer.

The 26-year-old had previously been linked with a move to England or Italy and now one team has emerged as favourite. Wolves are currently in talks with Elvedi who themselves are seeking a new centre-back following the sale of Nathan Collins to Brentford.

Should the Swiss put pen to paper with Wolves, he could cost around €11m.

Elvedi is expected to be a number of players leaving Gladbach this summer as they look to rebuild under new head coach Gerardo Seoane. The club have been on a downward spiral since finishing in the top four a couple of seasons ago.

The foals and Seoane are in for a crucial season and must get their transfer strategy correct.
