In their final pre-season friendly of the summer, Wolves will wonder what went wrong after failing to find the target.

Pedro Neto was unavailable for the club as he reportedly finalizes a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

It meant Hwang Hee-Chan, Rodrigo Gomes and Jørgen Strand Larsen led the line for Gary O’Neil, but the trio could not cook up an equaliser after Rayo Vallecano’s opener.

Isi Palazon picked up the ball in Wolves’ half and was allowed to stride forward before putting the ball beyond a diving Jose Sa into the bottom right corner.

O’Neil made a handful of changes to try and put the Spanish club on their heels. One Pedro Lima notably made his Molineux debut.

In the end, they failed to find an equaliser, and up next is their Premier League opener against Arsenal.
