Kicker reports that US Leece striker Nikola Krstovic is a candidate at VfL Wolfsburg. The €25m transfer fee demanded by Krstovic’s Serie A side may nevertheless prove untenable for the Bundesliga outfit. As the recent case of Norwich City striker Josh Sargent illustrates, the German Wolves aren’t willing to be bossed around when it comes to their search for additional attacking assistance.
Several factors still speak for the transfer. Krstovic has informed Leece of his desire to depart. Leece’s President recently acknowledged the player’s transfer request. Krstovic – a 22-times-capped Montenegrin international – might also get a chance to play alongside a compatriot. Dzenan Pejcinovic, who holds Montenegrin citizenship, has played his way into the spotlight during Wolfsburg’s pre-season.
Krstovic’s current estimated market value lies at €15m. Leece obviously won’t wish to part company with the striker who scored 11 goals and registered five assists last season cheaply. Krstovic was involved in 16 of the team’s 27 league goals last season. As a result, his estimated market value has more than doubled from €6m in the span of six short months.
