After two defeats from two to start their Premier League campaign, West Ham are looking to sign further additions before Monday’s deadline. Bild report that Graham Potter’s side are showing interest in Wolfsburg attacking-midfielder Patrick Wimmer, although no fee has been mentioned.
According to the report, Potter is a big fan of Wimmer and the Austrian would be open to a move to the Premier League, but it would appear that Wolfsburg have no intention of allowing the 24-year-old to leave with him expected to play a leading role under new head coach Paul Simonis.
However, despite Wolfsburg’s desire to keep Wimmer at the club, Bild report that the Bundesliga side have as of yet made no effort to extend the player’s contract beyond 2027, despite him becoming a figurehead at the club. And with the recent departure of Tiago Tomás to Stuttgart, Wolfsburg will be reluctant to lose further attacking players before September 1.
