La Liga outfit Real Betis have late this week unveiled a public statement, in response to claims that a deal had been put in place to bring Antony back to the club from Manchester United.
Speculation has of course long been rampant across Spain and England alike regarding a potential Betis return for wide-man Antony.
This comes after the Brazilian enjoyed a new lease of life during a loan stint with Manuel Pellegrini’s troops over the 2nd half of last season.
Those in the boardroom at the Estadio Benito Villamarín have since long been hard at work, in an effort to work out the terms of an agreement to bring Antony back for 2025/26.
Over the last 24 hours, some sources even went as far as to report that as much had been found.
But as alluded to above, the Verdiblancos themselves have since moved to firmly deny as much.
In an official statement released late on Friday, as relaid by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Betis wrote:
“There is no agreement for Antony and we have withdrawn the offer. We can’t afford the fee and the amounts that Manchester United must instead pay the player before the transfer.”
