The Frenchman crowned his competitive U21 debut with a 4-1 win over Poland, setting up a quarter-final clash against Denmark and Oscar Højlund.
All six Eintracht Frankfurt players at the European Under-21 Championship are through to the quarter-finals. Jean-Mattéo Bahoya completed the set on Tuesday evening, not only helping France to seal their progress but also making his competitive debut for his country at U21 level. The Frankfurt winger had previously featured in a friendly against Uzbekistan and watched the first two group matches from the bench.
Bahoya was named in the starting line-up in the 4-1 win over Poland in Žilina and made way for Toulouse’s Noah Edjouma after 68 minutes with the score at 3-1. The result means Gérald Baticle’s side finish in second place in Group C with seven points, the same as winners Portugal. Les Bleuets can now look forward to a last-eight meeting with Denmark, who already have top spot in Group D in the bag before their match against Finland on Wednesday evening at 18:00 CEST. Bahoya will therefore come up against Eagles team-mate Oscar Højlund on Sunday 22 June.
