Norwich City’s Championship campaign is far from over, as the club have play-off games against Leeds United to come.

Despite an unconvincing start to the season, the Canaries soon got their season back on track and looked on course for a top-six finish for the majority of the second half of the season.

The Norwich board will be pleased that they remained patient with manager David Wagner, as a testing run of results midway through the season looked as though they could have ended his tenure.

But the club stuck with him, and now they will be hoping the German can guide the club over the line and back into the Premier League.

Playing in the Premier League or the Championship could have an impact on what Norwich is able to do in the transfer market this summer, with the club hoping it is top-flight football, so they can entice better players.

As we wait to see the outcome, here at Football League World, we have decided to look at Norwich’s dream start to the summer transfer window with one in and one out…

Chris Willock: In

It has been reported in recent days that Norwich City are set to target Queens Park Rangers midfielder Chris Willock this summer.

Willock is set to become a free agent this summer, and according to Alan Nixon, the Canaries are plotting talks with the 26-year-old.

The QPR attacking midfielder has been a top performer in the Championship for a number of seasons now, with him scoring 22 goals and recording 22 assists in over 150 second-tier games.

The 2023/24 hasn’t been as successful for the West London side or Willock, but he has still contributed to goals and put himself on the scoresheet.

It has been reported that Sunderland are also interested in the 26-year-old, so if Norwich can act quickly and get a deal over the line for Willock at the start of the transfer window, it would be an excellent start for the Canaries.

The winger would cost them nothing, given that he is set to become a free agent, and would add to their options on the flanks whether they are in the Premier League or not.

Christos Tzolis: Out

Norwich signed Christos Tzolis in the summer of 2021 from Greek side PAOK Salonika after having an impressive 2020/21 campaign.

This was the first time the 22-year-old experienced English football, and that was clear to see, as the winger really struggled in his first campaign at Carrow Road.

Tzolis played 17 times in the 2021/22 season, with 14 of those games coming in the Premier League, but his game time was very limited.

The Greek international was limited to just three starts, as he spent the majority of the season on the bench.

So, when Norwich were relegated that summer, the club decided to loan the player out for the first part of the 2022/23 season.

Tzolis joined FC Twente, but again he struggled for regular minutes, and his impact was quite limited, as he scored three goals in all competitions.

He returned to Norwich in January last year and played 13 times in the Championship, but it wasn’t enough for David Wagner to keep him around this season, as he was sent out on loan to German side Fortuna Dusseldorf for the whole of this campaign.

The 22-year-old has done much better this season, as he’s scored 18 goals and grabbed seven assists in 28 Bundesliga 2 appearances. Part of the loan was that the German side have the option to buy Tzolis in the summer, and despite him doing well this season, the Canaries will probably want the player to move on a permanent basis.
