Will Still Still has confirmed he’ll be stepping down as Lens boss at the end of the season to move back to the UK and be closer to his family.
The 32-year-old, who previously managed Reims, signed a three-year deal with Lens last June and guided them to a respectable eighth-place finish in Ligue 1 this season.
His final game in charge came on Saturday, when Lens signed off with an impressive 4-0 win over Monaco on the last day of the French campaign. Speaking after the match, Still confirmed it would be his last outing in the dugout for the club.
“I will not be the coach of RC Lens next season,” he said in his post-match press conference. “The main reason pushing me to make this decision is the fact that I need to return home. Everyone is well aware of what has happened in my life. That’s why.”
Still’s partner, Sky Sports presenter Emma Saunders, revealed in March that she’s been recovering from encephalitis, a serious brain infection, and was also treated for thyroid cancer earlier in the season.
