When it comes to naming the all-time great Premier League strikers, there are some who would choose Wayne Rooney and others who would go for Sergio AgĂźero.

Both are the all-time leading goalscorers of their respective clubs but on Wednesday, ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby, the Manchester City man surpassed his United counterpart.

Agüero’s goal in City’s FA Cup victory at Sheffield Wednesday was his 254th for the club.

That meant he overtakes Rooney – who is expected to line up against his former club for Derby County on Thursday – who scored a total of 253 goals for United.

And crucially, AgĂźero has reached his tally in 192 fewer games than Rooney.

So that settles the debate once and for all then, yeah?
