Why PSG have the phycological edge over Brest ahead of the Champions League matchup? | OneFootball

PSG followed up their 2-5 win against Stade Brestois with victory in the Coupe de France against 3rd division side Le Mans FC. Out of the two wins the one against Brest had more significance as they have to play them in the Champions League next week. Luis Enrique will be pleased to be paired up with a team that he knows well domestically after a difficult set of league phase fixtures. They dispatched them in the last league game

Luis Enrique's side had too much firepower for Brest on the weekend despite the opposition having the same number of shots on target . In the aftermath the Brest coach Eric Roy said qualifying against such opponents could feel like "a mission impossible." The only concern would be if Les Parisens get complacent and think they have already won the game before it's started. They should not take their opponents too lightly as they will come out with a point to prove following the 2-5 defeat in the league. PSG are the team everyone wants to beat in France so they'll have that extra incentive to try knock them out of the Champions League.

Brest is a team PSG know well

Les Parisens will be accustomed to playing Brest having played them each year in the league. This is ideal as they will know how they will set up and know what there strengths and weaknesses are. This would particularly be the case as they have played each other recently in the league. If they were drawn against a team like Inter Milan or AC Milan then they would not know what to expect from them as they don't play each other regularly.

They are the dominant team in France

Les Parisens have undoubtedly been the best team in France since Qatar Sports Investment bought them in 2011. They have won 10 of the last 12 league titles which is a testament to how dominant they have been domestically. This may play on the Brest's player's mind as they may feel like there is an inferiority complex between themselves and Les Parisens as they know they are the best side in France. This could lead to them being beaten before the game has started.
