Paul Pogba’s potential move to Real Madrid looks set to be the saga of the summer, but there are still a number of issues to be resolved before the deal can go through.

The Independent are claiming that intermediaries are discussing the move this week with Pogba now desperate to push through a move to the Spanish capital.

Manchester United had been unwilling to sell their World Cup winner, but his bad influence inside the dressing room and a dwindling commercial value have now changed their mind.

United want a fee in excess of €170m with Madrid looking to fund a bid thanks to some of the process they will receive from selling Keylor Navas.

Zinedine Zidane had wanted to keep the Costa Rican, but was told by the club’s hierarchy that the goalkeeper needed to be sacrificed to bring in some much needed cash.

Another sticking point in getting any deal done is the midfielder’s wages.

Pogba is believed to have asked for €500,000 per week – a demand that Real Madrid have flat-out rejected.

A further issue is likely to be the suspension of Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola.

Raiola has been banned by Fifa until August 9, meaning any deal would have to be concluded at the end of the summer window.

There are plenty of moving parts in this transfer, which means it could go right down to the wire.
