Paris Saint-Germain suffered their third consecutive defeat in all competitions last night.

The French club lost 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 to Bayern Munich. Kingsley Coman’s strike in the 57th minute condemned PSG to a deserved loss.

Christophe Galtier’s side now face an uphill task to advance to the quarter-final. They will find it difficult to overturn the deficit at the Allianz Arena on March 8, but they cannot be ruled out.

PSG boast devastating attacking firepower in Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

One or two moments of brilliance from one of the trio could turn the fixture on its head. However, playing them together continues to come at a cost.

The Frenchman came off the bench to join the South American duo at Parc des Princes on Tuesday. He was unlucky to see his goal ruled out for offside, but Galtier must devise a better plan.

Messi, Neymar and Mbappe have scored 57 goals between them this term. They have also combined to contribute 31 assists, but their defensive contribution is very weak.

They hardly press opponents when not in possession in the final third. That job is left for the midfielders, and smart opposition managers have found a way to exploit that weakness.

Bayern had a lot of the ball in the opening 60 minutes last night and thoroughly outplayed PSG.

They could have scored at least three and left the prospects of a comeback very difficult for Les Parisiens.

Galtier has to drop one of them for the second leg if his side are to advance.

PSG want to win the Champions League, but they are unlikely to do so with all their three attackers playing together.

They can get away with it in Ligue 1, but Europe’s elite clubs will continue to punish them.
