VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade set to join Newcastle United for €90m

Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade is set to join Premier League side Newcastle United.

The fee for the 23-year-old will be a base amount of €85m, and with add-ons, it could rise to €90m. Woltemade only joined Stuttgart a year ago on a free transfer from Werder Bremen.

The 23-year-old has already said goodbye to his teammates and is on his way to Newcastle.

It looked like Woltemade would join Bayern Munich earlier this summer, as the Bundesliga champions were adamant to bring the striker to Munich, but they were not willing to meet Stuttgart’s asking price of €75m.

Last season was Woltemade’s breakout year in German football, scoring 17 goals and assisting three in 33 games. His form earned him a call-up to the German national team. Then at the under-21 Euros in the summer, he was the top scorer and standout player as Germany reached the final.
