Luciano Spalletti may have been given a vote of confidence to continue as coach of the Italian national team, but his future could hinge on the results of his next four matches.

Current FIGC President, Gabriele Gravina, has come out in support of his beleaguered coach whilst at the same time, bringing forward the date of the Italian Football Association Presidential elections to November 4.

Tuttomercatoweb states that Italy’s matches between now and those elections, could be decisive in determining Spalletti’s future.

The Azzurri will play against France in the Nations League in Paris on September 6, before taking on Israel in Budapest three days later.

These will be followed by a home Nations League tie against Belgium and the reverse fixture against Israel.

Should results not go Spalletti’s way, the November elections, which could see Gravina lose the presidency, could spell the end of his short reign as national team boss – A possible successor to Gravina almost certainly bringing in their own man.

Latest reports suggest that should this happen, Claudio Ranieri, who recently announced his retirement from club football having kept Cagliari in Serie A, and Massimo Allegri, recently dismissed by Juventus, would be possible front-runners to take over.
