In a recent episode of the Transfer Show podcast on Anfield Index, hosted by Trev Downey and Dave Davis, the discussion turned to one of Europe’s most exciting talents: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian star at Napoli has been linked with a move to top European clubs, including Liverpool and PSG. Here’s what the hosts had to say about this potential transfer.
Dave Davis hinted at a possible move involving Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the podcast, stating:
“Here’s where I think the Khvicha thing may have legs. Khvicha is Georgian, and Madashvili is Georgian. Khvicha is at Napoli, and Napoli and their manager like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. There are things coming together that I like. There are possible alignments that could happen.”
The conversation acknowledged that while a January move for Kvaratskhelia seems unlikely, the situation could change in the summer. Davis suggested that the stars could align for a future move, especially with Liverpool keeping a close eye on talent across Europe.
Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been a revelation in Serie A, and it’s no surprise that top clubs like PSG and Liverpool are showing interest. His ability to break down defences and create opportunities is exactly what teams competing in the Champions League crave.
Trev Downey added his perspective on Liverpool’s recruitment approach under Arne Slot, saying:
“Arne Slot will be looking to add quality that he desires for this team. He’s working with Klopp’s squad, but he’ll want players for his way of playing.”
The hosts agreed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fits the mould of a player Liverpool would target—young, dynamic, and capable of making a significant impact at the highest level. Napoli, however, won’t part ways easily with their prized asset.
One of the key talking points in the podcast was the potential need for Liverpool to sell a key player to make room for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The hosts speculated that a big departure from the forward line could trigger an exciting move for the Napoli star.
Names like Darwin Núñez, Federico Chiesa, and Ben Doak were mentioned as possible outgoings that could raise the funds and create space in the squad. Darwin Núñez, in particular, remains a valuable asset despite inconsistent form, while Chiesa—a recent addition—has struggled with injuries. The sale of Ben Doak, a promising young talent, could be seen as a necessary sacrifice to bring in a player of Kvaratskhelia’s calibre.
With Napoli likely to demand a substantial fee for Kvaratskhelia, Liverpool may need to make difficult choices to secure his services. Balancing the books while adding quality to Arne Slot’s squad will be crucial as the Reds look to compete at the highest level once again.
PSG, known for their Galactico-style recruitment, are also reportedly monitoring Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. With the Parisians always in the market for world-class talent, it wouldn’t be a shock to see them make a move for the Georgian winger.
Dave Davis speculated on the broader European interest, noting:
“We have to watch this space for summer because those two things (Liverpool’s interest and Napoli’s stance) are very interesting.”
Both Trev Downey and Dave Davis were cautious in their predictions. They emphasised that Liverpool’s interest in Kvaratskhelia depends heavily on potential outgoings at the club.
Trev Downey remarked:
“If there’s an outgoing in the forward line, especially a big one, then some exciting things might be happening.”
The idea of Liverpool signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is exciting for fans. His pace, creativity, and goal-scoring ability would add a new dimension to Arne Slot’s attacking options.

The podcast discussion leaves us with more questions than answers, but one thing is clear—Liverpool are keeping tabs on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Whether it’s in January or next summer, the Napoli star is firmly on the radar of Europe’s elite, including PSG and Liverpool.
As Dave Davis put it:
“The stars could align. Let’s hope that is the case.”
