Ipswich Town will be playing in the Championship next season after suffering immediate relegation from the Premier League following an underwhelming campaign, but Liam Delap will not be going down with them after impressing a couple of clubs in the English top-flight.

The England youth international has a £30 million release clause which can be activated by suitors in the summer transfer window. Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United have shown interest in signing him.

Everton manager David Moyes also recently admitted that they are keen on Delap after his return of 12 goals and two assists in 34 league games, but he is unsure of their chances of pipping other clubs to his signing.

The former Manchester City striker is expected to attract more clubs in the summer transfer window, but he should look to join Everton ahead of others to boost his chances of becoming an established attacking force in the Premier League.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of contract in the summer and Armando Broja expected to return to Chelsea at the end of his loan deal, the Goodison Park club need a new striker as they cannot rely on only Beto, and Delap fits the bill.

He has what it takes to lead the line at Everton and continue playing Premier League football regularly, and his chances of getting such an opportunity at Man United, Chelsea or Newcastle are very slim given their current attacking and striking options.

While the 22-year-old will fancy his chances at a big club, he needs to move to where he is guaranteed frequent opportunities, and the Toffees are offering him exactly that.

Additionally, the pressure to deliver constantly at a club like Man United or Chelsea can be overwhelming for a young striker, as Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have shown, and Delap needs to avoid that right now.

Everton are a big club, but there will be less pressure on him if he joins them, giving him enough time and space to adapt and improve at his own pace.

Moyes played key roles in developing Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice while at West Ham United, and the Ipswich star can become a better all-round player under him is he moves to Everton.

Delap dreams of playing for England, and his next club will play a huge role in whatever happens with his international career over the coming years.

Joining the Toffees will allow him to become an England international, and he will also have the chance to realise his dream of playing for one of the big clubs in a few seasons.

Becoming a regular goalscorer would benefit both parties as Everton can decide to cash in on him for around double his current £30m value once the time comes, and he could be challenging for a starting spot in the England XI by then.

The Toffees are looking to become regular participants in Europe and will boost their chances of holding on to Delap if they can break into the top four.

Getting him right now and hoping everything falls in place at their new stadium could be a smart move, and Moyes will be praying they win the race for the youngster.
