Why Inter have not released Sensi to Leicester City

Italian reports claim that Leicester City are the reason why Stefano Sensi has not yet completed the move and he could still be training with Inter tomorrow morning.

The matter has been dragging on for weeks now and had originally seemed a fairly simple transaction.

Sensi’s contract with Inter only runs to June 30, so Leicester City would need to commit to a €500,000 loan with obligation to buy for a further €3m.

However, problems emerged when Leicester refused to give guarantees, instead making it an obligation to buy only if they earn promotion to the Premier League.

Inter are unsure about that, as it leaves them exposed to losing him as a free agent in the summer.

Nonetheless, La Gazzetta dello Sport notes they were prepared to let Sensi leave on these terms, or on a permanent transfer of €500,000 with €2m bonuses for promotion, plus a percentage of the sell-on fee.

Inter were expecting the paperwork signed by Leicester City directors today, but they have still not arrived.

As things stand, the Italian sources warn that Sensi will be taking part in training with his Inter teammates on Wednesday morning.

If they are unable to do a deal, then Sensi will remain until his contract runs down.
