Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga has written himself into the history books by becoming the Championship’s youngest-ever goalscorer after the 16-year-old found the net in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat away at Preston North End.
Monga, just 16 years and 37 days old, came off the bench and struck in the 67th minute to cancel out Alfie Devine’s opener. In doing so, he broke the record previously held by Jude Bellingham, who scored for Birmingham City at 16 years and 63 days back in 2019.
It’s not the first time Monga has made headlines. Back in April, he became the second youngest player ever to feature in the Premier League, making his debut at only 15 years and 271 days.
Earlier this week, he was handed his first senior start in the Carabao Cup against Huddersfield, becoming Leicester’s youngest-ever starter at 16 years and 34 days.
Now, with his goal at Preston, Monga has added yet another milestone to a career that’s only just beginning.
