The Terriers have signed the defender from League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers.
Huddersfield Town have already been active during the summer transfer window as they prepare for another season in League One.
The Terriers were underwhelming during their first season back in the third tier, with Michael Duff losing his job earlier this year and interim boss Jon Worthington overseeing a poor run of form that resulted in a tenth-place finish.
Therefore, it was no surprise when the club moved quickly to appoint a new permanent head coach in the shape of former Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant, who has been part of Kieran McKenna's coaching staff at Ipswich Town for the last few seasons.
Huddersfield have brought in four players to strengthen their squad during the early stages of the summer transfer window, with Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness, Sean Roughan and Joe Low all having completed moves to the John Smith's Stadium.
Centre-back Low will hope that he can achieve the feat that he was unable to with Wycombe Wanderers last season, after the Chairboys were beaten by Charlton Athletic in the play-off semi-final in May, and Lee Grant has made it clear why he believes the Welshman can be key for Huddersfield as they chase promotion next term.
Huddersfield have signed Low on the back of his form at Wycombe last season, where he made 38 league appearances as they finished fifth in the League One table.
Lee Grant discussed the acquisition of Low via the official club website.
“I am really pleased to welcome Joe to the club," Grant said.
"He is a player who we identified early as a key target to bring in to help form our defence for the 2025/26 season.
“Joe is a tall, strong, and commanding central defender who has experience of playing in a successful side in Sky Bet League One. He has shown high-level ability, great maturity and leadership for his age, and that can be seen when looking at his domestic and international records.
“He has expressed his hunger and intent, and we’re glad he has invested into the project we have here at Huddersfield Town. There was strong interest in his services at this level and higher, so it is great for us to have Joe commit his future to the club, as we continue to get our business done before the start of pre-season.”
Low has been capped by Wales at international level and, at the age of 23, will no doubt see his future in the Championship, so he could prove to be a shrewd addition for the Terriers, especially having been brought in on a free transfer.
It has been a good couple of years for Joe Low, as he has bounced back from being sold to Wycombe by Bristol City in 2023 and now looks to be in a good position to potentially climb back into the second tier.
The Cardiff-born defender spoke about his feelings following his arrival at the John Smith's Stadium, as per the official club website.
“I have really thought about this move and after having multiple conversations with Lee I knew that this was the right move for me for my development," Low said.
"I like to be front-footed and aggressive, and I think that can work really well here.
“Last season, being part of a squad that was fighting at the top of the table has given me that experience that I can bring here, because that is absolutely what we are going to be doing this season.
“I felt like this was the right step up in my career - this is where I can develop, which is something I am really passionate about, and this will help me become a better person and a better player.”
Only two teams outside the top six in League One conceded fewer goals than Huddersfield in League One last season, so with the additions of Low and Roughan, the Terriers should believe they will have a solid foundation to build on in order to contend for promotion to the Championship next term.
