An insight into the reasoning behind Barcelona’s decision not to unveil new head coach Hansi Flick to the media as of yet as today been forthcoming.

Tactician Flick was of course officially named as the latest installation on the Barcelona bench almost a full month ago.

As much came after Joan Laporta and co. identified the ex-Bayern Munich boss as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Xavi.

Flick, in turn, has spoken to Barcelona’s official channels, and website, providing a brief insight into his plans for his spell in Catalunya’s capital.

And yet, as alluded to above, the 59-year-old is yet to speak to the press, in a public setting.

This is a somewhat unusual scenario, particularly for a club with the stature of Barcelona.

If the latest word to have come to the fore in Spain on Wednesday is anything to go by, though, this development has not come at all by mistake.

In fact, as per a report from Mundo Deportivo, it is an altogether deliberate one on the part of Joan Laporta and the Camp Nou brass:

‘FC Barcelona is clear that it does not want to expose Hansi Flick, the new Barça coach, to complicated situations in front of the press.’

The plan, as things stand, is for Flick to speak in an extensive manner for the first time as Barcelona manager in a controlled environment, overseen by the club.

This will come by way of an appearance on the Barca One media platform, shortly after pre-season is kicked into gear, next month.

MD conclude that:

‘The club does not want to expose the coach to questions of any kind in a regular press conference until he understands the day-to-day life of the club and, also, until he has drawn certain conclusions about the composition of the team.’
