Late Sunday night, América officially announced the arrival of Paraguayan midfielder Richard Sánchez from Paraguay’s Olimpia to replace Mateus Uribe, who moved to Porto earlier in the summer window.
Sánchez has signed a four-year deal with the Mexican giants and arrives on an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old Sánchez is considered one of the newest ‘jewels’ of Paraguayan football and made the move to powerhouse Olimpia in 2017 just one year after turning professional at River Plate (Paraguay).
You may remember Sánchez from this past summer’s Copa America tournament, where he scored the opening goal in Paraguay’s 1-1 draw with Argentina.
Despite having earned just three previous caps with the national team, Sánchez appeared in all four of Paraguay’s matches at South America’s premiere tournament, starting the final three.
Sánchez is known for having extremely good vision, phenomenal ball control, and a natural ability to break lines with his deft passing.
The newest member of América could make his debut as soon as Friday, when they travel to Guadalajara to face Atlas.
