Which team will Alexander Isak be cheering on tonight?

It is Newcastle United up against Liverpool tonight and Alexander Isak won’t be on the pitch.
Indeed, the Sweden international won’t even be in the building.
When you set in motion a certain scenario, fate often has a funny way of intervening and raising the situation by so many levels.
So when the Premier League computer spewed out Newcastle United playing their very first home match of the season against Liverpool, a week or so before the transfer window would end, I wonder what went through Alexander Isak’s head?
Alexander Isak and his agent insist that even before last season had ended (before Newcastle United had made sure of Champions League football…), those in charge at the club had been made aware that the striker wanted to leave this summer.
The Premier League fixtures were published in mid-June and so at least a month or more before that point, Liverpool had informed Alexander Isak they were going to make a bid to sign him this summer, or at the very least, his agent had told Isak that this was the case.
Put it this way, no top player is telling his club he intends to leave, unless he is of the belief that he has a club he wants to go to has the intention of paying the necessary transfer fee and wages.
The deluded Liverpool fans have convinced themselves that only this Newcastle United fixture against their club is now holding up the deal happening. That once Monday night is out of the way, the move will then be made public and Alexander Isak will be a Liverpool player.
This of course totally ignores that annoying thing, which is reality.
The Newcastle United owners have now copied their Liverpool counterparts and are putting out their own messages via trusted journalists. That very clear message is that Alexander Isak is going nowhere this transfer window, that a deal might have been possible if Newcastle United had been able to bring in replacements for both Callum Wilson AND Alexander Isak AND Liverpool had put in an offer of at least £150m.
With only a week to go until the transfer window closes, Liverpool have made one disrespectful offer that is £40m below Newcastle United’s minimum potential selling point and not even a credible replacement for Callum Wilson recruited yet, never mind a replacement for Alexander Isak himself.
So where does that leave Alexander Isak tonight? Which team will he be cheering on?
The answer to that first question is easy enough in one sense, in that for sure he won’t be inside St James’ Park tonight.
I like to imagine Alexander Isak and his agent will be sitting in a darkened room somewhere tonight, or more likely Isak sitting by himself somewhere watching on TV alone, whilst furiously messaging his agent back and forwards.
I have no doubt the striker’s agent will be cheering on Liverpool, due to Newcastle United derailing his cunning get even richer plan, but what about Alexander Isak himself?
Will he be cheering on what he hopes will soon be his new teammates?
Or will it be the band of brothers he has trained and played alongside these past three years?
Oh to be the proverbial fly on the wall, witnessing Alexander Isak between 8pm and 10pm tonight.
I know that most of you will no doubt be wanting to believe the first option, Alexander Isak sitting watching TV with his Liverpool scarf on.
I prefer to believe that until anything happens transfer-wise (in the future beyond this summer!), Alexander Isak will still be wanting the best for Eddie Howe, the same for his friends who play in black and white, as well as indeed wanting the Newcastle United fans who have supported him these past three seasons.
What I believe for sure is that not for one second when setting this situation in motion, did Alexander Isak believe that nothing would have happened before this Newcastle v Liverpool match was played, that he would still be a Newcastle player not a Liverpool player, as this match is played out at St James’ Park.
Due to his actions, Alexander Isak has painted himself into the tightest of corners.
So when he is sitting watching on TV tonight, will it finally dawn on Alexander Isak, the reality that he needs to accept and indeed embrace.
That reality is Alexander Isak is still a Newcastle United player, that seven days later when the transfer window closes he will still be a Newcastle United player.
So unless he is intending to do some really serious damage to his career in the next year, make himself even more of a laughing stock and shameful character, Alexander Isak needs to apologise to Eddie Howe, apologise to his teammates, apologise to the Newcastle United fans, apologise to the world.
Then start playing football again, for Newcastle United.
Then leave in summer 2026 when things can be done properly, not allow himself to be hung out to dry again, by a shameless club such as Liverpool who have encouraged Alexander Isak to make such a fool of himself, by pretending they were going to put in a serious bid to buy him.
