Blues fans could see their team feature heavily on TV
Birmingham City's fixtures for the 2025/26 Championship season have now been released, with plenty of interest set to surround the highly-ambitious outfit in the next 12 months.
Blues are returning to the second tier with the wind in their sales after taking League One by storm last term, accumulating an EFL-record 111 points, whilst also faring strongly in all three cup competitions.
It is expected that American ownership group, Knighthead Capital Management, will continue to back Chris Davies in their quest to eventually see Premier League football return to St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for the first time since 2011, with many predicting the West Midlands outfit to challenge for a place in the play-offs at the bare minimum.
Several high-profile names have already been linked with moves, or in some cases, returns to B9 ahead of the season opener on August 8th, a fixture which Blues will be at the front and centre of, as they take on newly-relegated Ipswich Town in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
It has been confirmed by Sky that each of the EFL's 72 clubs will be broadcast to the nation over 20 times, with a minimum of 1,000 league, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy encounters to be shown across mainstream channels or Sky Sports +.
As a result, the organisation have also outlined when supporters of clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two will find out which fixtures, up until the end of September, will be selected for live broadcast.
Blues have eight league matches between August 8th and September 30th, with an even split of home and away fixtures during said timeframe.
It remains to be seen which of these will also be selected by Sky Sports for live broadcast, although it has now been made clear when fans will be made aware of kick-off and potential date alterations.
As with last season, by July 3 all matches selected for broadcast for the period to the end of September 2025 will be announced, and before a ball is kicked in the 2025/26 season all TV selections will be confirmed for the period up to the FA Cup Third Round on the weekend of January 10 next year," a statement from Sky Sports read.
"This is up to five months' notice provided to fans and clubs a significant increase on the previous deal, which had seen five weeks' notice given across the majority of the season," the statement continued.
"By selecting TV picks early and giving much more notice, fans will be able to plan with certainty when making travel and hotel arrangements."
Given the outside expectations and the buzz which surrounds the club right now, Davies will be hoping his chargers can accumulate as many points as possible to assert themselves as a dominant force.
There are some tricky contests for Blues to navigate in the early weeks of the season though, with trips to Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Coventry City coming shortly after the opening encounter against Kieran McKenna's side, whilst also facing an early reunion with former boss, Gary Rowett, now in charge of Oxford United.
Due to the hype which surrounds Birmingham and fellow promotion-winners Wrexham, it wouldn't surprise anybody if the two sides are prominent fixtures on TV screens in the coming months and years, with both also producing in-depth, fly-on-the-wall documentaries to boost engagement and revenue streams.
