An insight into the potential knock-on effect of Vitor Roque’s increasingly likely Barcelona departure on fellow attacker Marc Guiu has today been forthcoming.

The subject of Barcelona’s plans for the struggling Roque has of course proven a headline topic in the Spanish media over the course of recent days.

This comes amid mounting claims that the call has been made to farm the Brazilian out on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.

As much would come with a view to Roque securing for himself more regular football at first-team level, before returning to Catalunya’s capital more ready to vie for a starting berth.

In the meantime, though, what does his exit mean for the attacking pecking order in Xavi’s squad?

Robert Lewandowski will remain as first-choice through the middle for next season, with Ferran Torres likely to act as direct backup.

Roque moving on, though, could well open the door for increased minutes for Marc Guiu, too.

Youngster Guiu has been a regular in Xavi’s matchday setup across the season to date, notching two goals across his five appearances to date.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, the 18-year-old is held in high regard amongst the coaching staff at Barca, with it not at all out of the question that Guiu is in line for a considerable uptick in first-team minutes in 2024/25.
