What is Thomas Gravesen doing now? A completely crazy life

Thomas Gravesen was always considered the crazy Dane, before, during and after playing for Celtic. He hit at the German HSV at the end of the 20th century and became a kind of cult figure there. Even coach Frank Pagelsdorf was not safe from his pranks, as the story goes. Gravesen once reportedly said in front of running cameras, “The fact that I talked so much and often got loud has nothing to do with the fact that I already feel like a boss here now.” I wonder if he really didn’t feel like a boss. You can believe it or not, his actions usually speak for themselves.

Set off! “I want to see and conquer the world!”

In 2000, the move to Everton FC took place, for $3.4 million. “I want to see and conquer the world now,” he said, and disappeared from Germany forever. Gravesen played a total of 149 Premier League games for the Merseyside club. He was also celebrated and feared on the island. In 2004, HSV wanted him back, without success.

Mix with the stars: “Incredibly exiting!”

Instead, he went to Real Madrid in 2005, to a team with Zidane, Raúl, Ronaldo and Beckham! “I found the mere idea of playing with these guys incredibly exciting,” was Gravesens’s comment. Great successes were celebrated by the Dane among these giants did not, rather his comparatively limited abilities became clear. A Gravesen, as powerful as his game was, would unfortunately never be a Ronaldo.

In 2006 came the transfer to Celtic, and in 2007 the championship was won. Unforgettable times! In 2009 it all came the abrupt end, as Gravesen got out of professional football. Of course, the unruly guy did not really want to retire, he was obviously drawn to the gambling city of Las Vegas and the poker tables there. Gambling is not unknown in football, there are just too many free bets on the Internet for that.

The comparison portal asiabet.org, for example, lists numerous relevant providers along with their conditions. Users can simply browse through the rows and click on the best platform. They are already at the digital bookmaker they trust.

The great poker career: “Only 100 million?”

It’s a very similar story for poker players in Las Vegas. There is also a huge selection of cash games and tournaments, but it usually takes a little longer to find the best casino for you. Gravesen must have done it, though, because rumour has it he’s already made $100 million there. “Only 100 million?” said Gravesen when asked, laughing his head off. In any case, he is said to have been spotted in a $500,000 Mercedes McLaren, a sign that finances weren’t bad in those days.

His great love for the game of poker is said to have begun when the ex-football star had a hot duel at a high-roller machine. The head-to-head race got him so carried away that he couldn’t let go of this new hobby. But the story also says that Gravesen lost another 54 million dollars that night, to whom is not known. But he was able to win back his money, otherwise that would probably have been the end of his American dream. For a while, Gravesen even lived in Las Vegas, very close to Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi in a gated community. Even before the move, he broke up with porn star Kira Eggers and instead took the no less handsome Czech model Kamila Persse with him to Nevada.

Return to the favourite sport: “I simply missed soccer”

The relationship with her ended in 2018. Far before that, in 2013, he visited his old friend, the HSV. There the Dane confessed once again his love for soccer and said that he wanted to get back into this field. Apparently, these were not empty words, because today Gravesen works for the sports channel Eurosport in his homeland Denmark. He shines as a soccer expert and justifies this step with the statement: “I simply missed soccer.”

The moral of the story? If you love football, you’ll always return to it. Poker may be exciting, but only a single king can reign your heart.
