However, the likes of Ipswich Town, Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool have also been credited with an interest, with the south coast club probably the least likely club out of the aforementioned clubs to agree a deal for Hirst.

Recently speaking to Portsmouth-based outlet The News, Pompey boss Danny Cowley said that he expects the powerful striker to be operating in the Championship next season.

Hirst netted 15 times in Portsmouth colours last season, all whilst offering the south coast club with a focal point when going forward.

Hirst has not been involved within Leicester’s first-team so far this season but did appear in last week’s U23 fixture, with Hirst netting twice in what was a 75 minute run out.

With Tyreece Simpson expecting to depart Portman Road in what remains of this summer, Ipswich could still add another forward to their frontline, with Hirst certainly a player that they will be considering.

Of course, Championship interest may hinder their progress in the pursuit of Hirst, but given the club’s lofty ambitions and ability to pay like most second-tier clubs, Ipswich might just be the ideal destination.
