Could Rudoni be exiting the CBS Arena this summer?

Coventry City's heartbreaking defeat in the Championship play-off semi-finals at the hands of Sunderland may end up costing them some key players this summer - with one of them being Jack Rudoni.

The Sky Blues have a plethora of talent on their books, but under Frank Lampard's management they couldn't get over the line when it was all said and done and reach Wembley to take on Sheffield United.

Regardless, Rudoni was one of the Championship's standout attacking midfielders in 2024-25, scoring 10 times and notching a further 12 assists from his 45 appearances, and according to journalist Graeme Bailey, Leeds United are interested in the 23-year-old ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Coventry may have missed out on their own return to England's top flight after 24 years away, but Rudoni might make the jump himself with Leeds, should they come in with an acceptable offer.

And prior to the play-offs in which the Sky Blues were cruelly eliminated from by the eventual promotion winners Sunderland, Lampard hailed Rudoni for his impact over the course of the campaign, in which he was only one of a select group that hit double figures in both goals and assists.

"He's such a talented boy and he's a pleasure to work with," Lampard said of Rudoni after Coventry's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on the final day of the regular season, which the playmaker scored twice in and secured the club a play-off spot.

"The way he trains, he wants to get better, he engages all the time because he wants to score goals. Me and him stay on our own and we practice, and I practice all sorts of finishes, just to try and give myself an assist!

"But I work with him and he's brilliant - great energy, great quality, the way he moves with the ball and he can score different types of goals, the header - I couldn't score those headers, he's better at me than that."

Leeds United would be getting a hard-working player if Jack Rudoni deal is done

It's no secret that Leeds United need to strengthen multiple positions this summer, and the biggest concern is the lack of a Premier League-quality number 10 who can unlock defences.

Brenden Aaronson returned to Elland Road somewhat controversially last summer after a season away on loan at Union Berlin, where he underwhelmed as much as he did in the Premier League with the Whites.

Nevertheless, the USA international found the back of the net nine times in a productive campaign, but there's a definite feeling he can be upgraded upon, and based on his stats in a lesser-quality team in 2024-25, Rudoni would be just that.
