Westerlo agree loan and purchase option with young Fenerbahçe defender | OneFootball

Westerlo have announced the signing of Emir Ortakaya on loan from Fenerbahçe with a purchase option. The 20-year-old is the latest to make the move from Turkey to Belgium to sign for Westerlo who have had plenty of success in signing players from the country in the past. He is the sides third signing of the season, all of him whom have been under the age of 20. Ortakaya is the oldest of their signings so far.

Ortakaya spent last season on loan at Kocaelispor in the second tier of Turkish football, playing 31 games and scoring three goals. Prior to that he played the 2022/2023 season on loan at Göztepe, again in the second tier. He played 34 games in all competitions, scoring once.

According to the Westerlo website, Ortakaya brings plenty of versatility to the squad. He can play as a central defender, out wide or in central midfield.
