Sunday’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between West Ham United and Manchester United has been postponed due to COVID-19 cases in the hosts’ camp.

The pair were due to meet at The Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday evening but The Hammers have this afternoon confirmed that the game will not go ahead.

The fixture is the first top flight match to be affected by COVID-19 in 2022, although it will by no means be the last.

Both sides will be disappointed not to have the opportunity to build on their impressive recent form this weekend. West Ham United would have gone into the game unbeaten in five matches in all competitions while Manchester United ended 2021 with three consecutive wins, The Red Devils also recorded a trio of clean sheets in those games.

West Ham United will be hoping to finally get 2022 underway with a London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at The Hive on Sunday 16 January while Manchester United are next set to be in action against Birmingham City at the Leigh Sports Village one day prior.

A new date for West Ham United’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester United will be agreed between the two clubs in due course with all pre-purchased tickets being valid for the rearranged game.
