RSC Anderlecht will visit the London Stadium for the first time on Thursday, desperate to secure maximum points in the Europa League against West Ham United.

Gianluca Scamacca’s 79th-minute strike was enough to separate both sides in the reverse fixture, and Felice Mazzu’s side will be keen for revenge.

Despite their rough start to the Premier League campaign, West Ham have been imperious in Europe to date, winning their opening three games.

David Moyes’ side are sitting comfortably at the top of Group B. They have scored seven goals and conceded just three.

After winning their first three fixtures, the Hammers will all but secure safe passage to the knockout rounds with two games to spare if they complete the double over Anderlecht.

West Ham will enter the tie feeling confident after swatting aside Fulham 3-1 in the Premier League last weekend.

Scamacca continued his excellent recent form. His 62nd-minute strike against the Cottagers was his third in three games, and he is proving good value for money.

The Hammers have shaken off their disappointing early-season form to string together a three-game winning streak for the first time this season.

Moyes will want nothing more than for his side to build on their momentum with another win against Anderlecht, who will come into the game fired up after putting in an impressive shift in their last game.

They came from behind to beat KV Mechelen 3-1 courtesy of second-half goals from Mario Stroeykens, who netted a brace, and Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee, Fabio Silva.

Anderlecht have had a fair Europa Conference League campaign, recording a win, a draw and a loss from their first three games.

Their league form is nothing to write home about. They sit in ninth place after winning just five of their eleven games. They are six points adrift of the top four and light years away from top spot.

They will be hoping to redeem themselves with a good run in Europe, but they need maximum points against the Hammers to keep their hopes alive.

Match Preview

West Ham United

West Ham are in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage, but they need to produce a positive performance to make it a certainty.

They have won their last five games in all European competitions including qualifiers, which is their longest-ever such winning run. They have also scored three goals in four of their last five European fixtures.

The Hammers are one of the only three teams in the competition to have maintained a 100% record, alongside Villarreal and AZ Alkmaar.

They have also scored seven goals in the Conference League, with only AZ Alkmaar (8) and Villarreal (11) outscoring them.

Moyes’ side have won five of their last six games across all competitions. They are also undefeated in their last four home games (W3, D1), so they will relish their chances against the Belgians.

RSC Anderlecht

Anderlecht have not scored since their opening day 1-0 win over Silkeborg. While they have just one goal to their name, they have also kept a tight ship at the back, conceding just once in three games.

They have just one win in their last four away games (D1, L2), but their European record on the road should boost their morale.

They have lost just one of their last six games away from home in European competitions (W3, D2 – including qualifiers) and are unbeaten in their last three.

However, they have failed to win any of their previous 18 matches away to English opposition on the European stage (D2 L16).
