West Ham United have completed the signing of former Reading forward Emma Harries on a free transfer.

The Hammers announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Harries is a product of the Reading Regional Talent Centre (RTC) and she went on to become an important player for The Royals at first team level. The forward made 51 appearances for Reading in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she scored six goals.

Following Reading’s relegation from the top flight in May, Harries opted to leave the club and she will now continue her career with new side West Ham United.

After joining The Hammers, Harries said “It’s an amazing feeling to sign for West Ham United. It is a huge Club and I think it’s the perfect next step for me in terms of developing as a player.

“I’m only 21 and this next step is going to be important for me. West Ham are a Club that are pushing youth development, and that’s something that I was really excited by.

“The appointment of Rehanne [Skinner] was also something that helped with my decision making. She is somebody that has worked in the younger age groups for England and I think she will be the perfect manager to play under. It’s going to hopefully be a really good season.

“I can’t wait to get out there with the girls and work hard to prepare for the new campaign and I’m excited to meet all of the West Ham United fans.”

Harries becomes West Ham United’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
