In a recent report from Express, it was stated that West Ham United are planning to make a bid for Ismaila Sarr from Watford. It is understood that the Hammers have tabled a bid worth £25 million for the Hornets’ winger who they have identified as a decent replacement for Andriy Yarmolenko.

Sarr’s Previous Campaign With Watford

Ismaila Sarr has had a solid campaign at Vicarage Road, being productive on the attacking end of the field. He managed to score 5 goals and create 2 assists over 22 appearances last season despite the Hornets being relegated.

The Senegal international has impressed in the right-wing position for the Hornets. He has given a good account of himself after averaging 1.8 shots, 1.0 key passes, 0.5 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has been decent in distributing the ball to his teammates after completing 77.5% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

What Will He Bring To West Ham United?

Ismaila Sarr has done well to establish himself in the starting XI at Vicarage Road. He excels at getting behind the opposition with his pace and agility. He can create a yard of space for himself and make some decent runs down the right flank. Furthermore, his positioning in the final third allows him to convert some clear-cut goal-scoring chances in the penalty box.

The Senegalese forward is primarily a right-winger but is versatile enough to play as a right-sided wide player and in the centre-forward position. However, he has to improve on his link-up play as he remains poor in distributing possession to his teammates.

He will take Yarmolenko’s place in the frontline to inject more goals for the East London club. The 24-year-old can undoubtedly develop into an attacking threat over the coming seasons and help the Hammers compete for a top-tier finish. David Moyes remains wise to bring him to London Stadium and his addition would make a significant difference.
