West Ham United manager Rehanne Skinner says that her side go to Liverpool with no fear given a string of impressive results in recent weeks.

The Hammers travel to Prenton Park to take on The Reds this afternoon in their latest Barclays Women’s Super League fixture.

West Ham United have collected seven points since the winter break. Four of those points have come from games against Arsenal and Manchester United.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of this afternoon’s trip to Liverpool, Skinner said that her side go into the game with no fear and with a platform to build upon.

“We’ve got to go into every game looking to get points,” Skinner said. “They’re in the position that they’re in because they’ve been doing a really good job at getting results. That’s why they’re in a better position than us at the moment.

“We are going into these games with no fear. We just want to make sure that we go and play the way that we want to play. This is another opportunity to do that, it’s another game. We’ve given ourselves a platform to build from in the last few games, played well against Manchester United, so that’s at the forefront of people’s minds as well. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing and try to get as many points as we can.”

One player who has contributed significantly to West Ham United’s good run is Viviane Asseyi. The French forward has scored five goals in her last seven matches for the East Londoners. Skinner believes that Asseyi is now in her best goalscoring form.

She said “Since coming back in January, I think she’s been superb. It’s an interesting conversation and it probably brings up all of the scheduling conversations that we have. The carry-over after the World Cup with her and all of those things takes a little bit of time.

“She knows that what she’s doing now is what she’s capable of and we maybe didn’t see as much of it in the first half of the season. She had a good break over Christmas, she came back really determined and I think she’s been superb since then.”

West Ham United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Liverpool kicks-off at 12pm.
