In a recent print edition, The Sunday Mirror (1 May, Page-74) revealed that West Ham United are eyeing a summer move for Elche winger Tete Morente. It is understood that the Hammers have held initial talks with the Spanish club over a potential move for the talented wide player.
The 25-year-old is having an up and down campaign in Spain as he has struggled to be consistent with his productivity in the final third. Morente has registered three goals and three assists in 29 matches for his current club this season on all fronts.
The Spanish talent has failed to be consistent with his performances based on his average of 0.9 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has also been a bit untidy with his ball distribution after making 74% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

Morente can generate a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on goal when he is playing well on the field. He can use his pace and agility to make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the attacking end of the field.
The Spaniard has often been unleashed as a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger if needed. Thus, he could be a good choice for West Ham to consider if David Moyes wants to bolster the depth of his match-day squad ahead of the new campaign. We can expect the Elche wide player to add some pace and goals to the East London club‘s frontline.
At 25, Morente’s best years are ahead of him as he is yet to hit his prime. Therefore, the Hammers can expect to make the most out of his services in the coming seasons. However, he is clearly not good enough to feature in top-flight football week in week out. Hence, Moyes should think about recruiting a more proven player if he wants his team to challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League next year.
