West Ham United have turned down a second takeover bid from the American consortium.
The Sun reports the unnamed consortium came forward with an improved £400 million offer.
The Americans want a majority stake in the club, but owners David Gold and David Sullivan are not willing to sell.
The two Davids do want investors to provide a cash injection, but only in the form of a minority stake.
It is unclear if the Americans will come back with a third offer, or if they will leave the matter be for now.
The Sun claims some negotiations will happen and a possible settlement could be reached.
