West Ham United have endured a miserable start to the season.
The Hammers are currently just five points above the relegation zone after winning just three of their 11 Premier League matches.
Julen Lopetegui’s job at the London Stadium is safe for now, but the club’s hierarchy has made it clear that results must improve soon.
One of West Ham’s biggest issues this season has been their poor defence, as they have already conceded 19 goals in the English top flight.
The Hammers should look to add a quality full-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson Palmieri failing to make a big impact.
They must seal a move for Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters, who could be available to sign as a free agent next summer.
The 27-year-old mainly plays as a right-back but is equally comfortable playing on the left.
He has started nine matches in the English top-flight this season, with an assist to his name.
He has posted impressive statistics, averaging 1.4 tackles, 3.3 ball recoveries and 1.8 clearances.
Southampton want to extend his current contract, which expires next summer.
However, reports claim talks between the two parties broke down in September, and the player has no intention of returning to the negotiating table.
It is quite clear that Walker-Peters wants a new challenge, and West Ham could be the perfect club for him.
