What is the latest news involving Kehrer?

West Ham manager David Moyes recently told BBC Sport and other outlets that progress is being made in the Hammers’ bid to sign Kehrer.

It comes after the Premier League outfit were said to have made an offer for the centre-back.

According to the MailOnline, West Ham have offered PSG £10m for Kehrer, though it is believed that the French giants want £17m.

It is a reasonable fee; however, they face competition for his signature, with the newspaper stating that Sevilla are also interested.

What has Jones said about Kehrer to West Ham?

With Sevilla also keen on Kehrer, Jones thinks West Ham need to get a move on.

Speaking about the Spanish side’s interest in the player, Jones said to GIVEMESPORT: “They’re a top team themselves. They weren’t really expecting much competition to sign him, so they’ll want to try and conclude their own negotiations as soon as possible. So West Ham will have to move fast to try and sign him.”

Why do West Ham want Kehrer?

Moyes has some issues at the back right now, with new signing Nayef Aguerd currently sidelined due to an ankle injury.

The Scotsman has also lost Issa Diop following the 25-year-old’s £15m move to Fulham, so it is not hard to see why bringing in another centre-half like Kehrer has quickly become a priority at the London Stadium.

played as a right-back and a defensive midfielder, so that versatility makes him a really appealing option for West Ham.

For PSG, Kehrer has made over 120 appearances, while he has won 20 caps for his country, so this is a player with experience at a very high level.

Ultimately, Kehrer could be a very shrewd addition to the Hammers’ squad, especially considering the situation that they find themselves in. In their first two gams of the season, Moyes was forced to play full-back Ben Johnson as a centre-half due to his lack of options.

To land the former Schalke man, though, it looks like West Ham will have to see off competition from Sevilla as Julen Lopetegui tries to bolster his own defence.
