The uncertainty surrounding the future of Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has taken a fresh twist on Thursday with developments concerning two Premier League clubs.

Grealish’s situation continues to be one of the more intriguing narratives of City’s summer, with the 29-year-old attracting attention despite a drop-off in form last season and injury concerns to his name in the process.

Manchester City are not actively pushing the England international out of the door, but there is a growing acceptance internally that a departure — likely on loan — may benefit all parties if the right opportunity arises.

With Rayan Cherki arriving and wide attacking roles highly competitive under Pep Guardiola in the form of Jeremy Doku and Savinho in particular, Grealish faces a fight to reclaim a consistent place in the starting line-up.

The former Aston Villa captain completed just three Premier League blocks of 90 minutes under Guardiola last season, and while he remains a popular figure in the dressing room, City’s evolving tactical shape appears to be moving beyond his profile as a traditional ball-carrying wide man.

Interest in Grealish has already come from clubs in Italy and Saudi Arabia, but the player is currently understood to favour remaining in the Premier League. While no deal is imminent, the number of clubs exploring potential routes to land the playmaker continues to grow.

According to new information from journalist Ben Jacobs, West Ham United have become the latest club to make an enquiry regarding Jack Grealish. However, it is stressed that the finances of any deal makes it difficult for the club.

Elsewhere and the report indicates that Merseyside club Everton still remain keen on the England international, but only if Manchester City officials would be willing to sanction a loan agreement this summer.

West Ham’s approach marks a significant development in the domestic pursuit of Grealish, particularly as the London club remain ambitious in the market. The Hammers are in search of proven attacking quality, and Grealish — despite his inconsistent output at City — would bring elite-level experience and versatility to their forward line.

Everton’s interest, meanwhile, ties into wider reports from earlier this week suggesting that David Moyes’ side could turn to Grealish if City agree to subsidise wages in a temporary deal. Financial constraints continue to dictate Everton’s summer, but a loan with favourable terms may still offer the chance to add star quality ahead of the new campaign.

For City, there is a growing sense that the Grealish situation could go down to the wire this summer. While no exit is being forced, the club will remain open to possibilities that protect the player’s market value while ensuring regular game time.

A permanent sale appears highly unlikely, particularly given the £100 million price tag Manchester City paid in 2021, but a loan — either in England or abroad — is firmly on the table.

Should more clubs join the race in the weeks ahead, Manchester City may look to engineer a scenario that allows Grealish to reset his career trajectory while keeping the door open for a return.
