According to injury expert Ben Dinnery, Everton are expected to welcome back three important members of Rafa Benitez’s starting line-up for their top-flight clash at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking on the Premier League Injury News show this week, he claimed that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, winger Richarlison and captain Seamus Coleman are all in contention to return.

“We’re cautiously optimistic. Ahead of game week seven, we saw Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Seamus Coleman all training individually down at Finch Farm,” he said.

“There was never any serious hope of them being involved before the break, but they have had this extended period to train.

“I would say all three players should be in a really strong position to return to Rafa Benitez’s Everton squad this weekend.”

Moyes will be sweating

Whilst this is great news for the Toffees, it’s a little frustrating for the Irons as they won’t be facing a below strength side in their bid to bounce back from their disappointment last time out.

Before the players departed for international duty last week, Moyes’ side were beaten for just the second time this season, losing in late fashion to newly-promoted Brentford, which left them in ninth place – three points behind this weekend’s opposition, so a victory could well see them back into top-six contention.

West Ham would’ve loved to make the most of playing a weaker Everton outfit but now they will have to plan for the explosive firepower of Calvert-Lewin and Richarilson, whilst the presence of their leader cannot be understated.

The England international found the net 21 times last season and has continued that form into the new campaign, bagging three goals from three appearances, and considering the Hammers have kept just one clean sheet in seven outings, he could well be a shoo-in to extend his lucrative exploits.

His fellow attacker, the enigmatic Brazilian, is just as big a threat having delivered 13 goals and three assists in 2020/21. He’s a crucial cog in this system as he’s able to bring defenders out of position and that allows someone like Calvert-Lewin to thrive in behind.

In Benitez’s first game without Coleman, they were well-beaten 3-0 by Aston Villa and they have only managed to keep the one clean sheet in his absence, so his return will certainly be a welcome one on that right-flank.

On the above evidence, the West Ham boss is surely sweating as he’ll need his game plan to be spot on to come away from Merseyside with any sort of returns, not to mention the added pressure of facing his former club, where he spent the best part of a decade.
