West Ham United and Manchester United have enquired about Monaco’s wantaway Youssouf Fofana (25), according to a report this Tuesday from L’Equipe. The France international midfielder reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with AC Milan, but the Serie A giants are yet to match Monaco’s asking price of €35m, as exclusively revealed by Get French Football News. The outlet understands that Les Monégasques are now hoping for a €30m windfall.
Speaking to L’Equipe, AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro revealed that Fofana has been training away from Adi Hütter’s senior squad since returning from his holidays. The former Strasbourg player took part in the Euros for France. Fofana was not called up for his side’s prestigious 3-0 win against Barcelona on Monday for the Joan Gamper Trophy. “If he does not intend to stay, it makes no sense for him to be part of the preparation”, Scuro said.
The AS Monaco CEO has revealed that Fofana and the club have mutually agreed to part ways, but the France international’s exit from the Principality club does not go “as smoothly as hoped”. Les Monégasques start the new Ligue 1 season this Saturday in hosting promoted side Saint-Etienne, and it would be a surprise to see Fofana feature against Les Verts.
