The Baggies have had a very busy window so far under the new boss, and the new recruits have responded well, with the team sitting second in the Championship having picked up ten points from four games.

So, all connected to the club will be dreaming of a promotion push this season, but Albion will hope to complete further business to ensure they have a squad that can cope with the demands of the league.

And, in a fresh development, Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox has revealed that Albion are pushing to sign Iling-Junior from local rivals Aston Villa.

He reveals that a loan offer has been submitted by the Baggies for the natural left-sider, and whilst there are other clubs interested in the former Juventus man, it’s said that there is ‘optimism’ at The Hawthorns that they can get this over the line.

Iling-Junior is way down the pecking order at Villa, so it is no surprise that they are ready to sanction his exit, with the player having spent the previous campaign out on loan with Bologna and then Middlesbrough.

Despite being a winger, Iling-Junior played plenty of minutes for Boro at left-back, so he could provide Ryan Mason with plenty of versatility for the rest of the 2025-26 season.

Samuel Iling-Junior could be a great addition for West Brom - could he succeed Tom Fellows?

This is the sort of move that could suit all parties, as it’s clear that Iling-Junior needs to leave Villa Park because he isn’t going to play, and he needs minutes at this stage of his career.

The 21-year-old is highly-rated, and he has represented England at various youth levels, so it’s clear that he has ability, but he needs to show that on a regular basis now.

From Albion’s perspective, they would be getting a player who can operate down the left-flank, and that ability to play in two positions is going to appeal to Mason. He could however potentially play on the right-hand side as a replacement for Tom Fellows - two very different players, but his left-footedness and ability to cut inside from that position could also appeal to Mason.

Given the competition to land the player, this would have to be considered a coup for the Baggies if they can get it over the line, and it will be intriguing to see how this plays out in the next 24 hours or so as West Brom try to get this done.
