FLW rounds up all the latest updates on Albion's hunt for Tony Mowbray's permanent successor...
It appears that West Brom are in no rush to appoint Tony Mowbray's permanent successor as Albion manager, with well over a month until preparations for the 2025-26 season will kick off.
The Baggies rolled the dice with Mowbray for a second time in his career back in January, taking over from Carlos Corberan after talks with Swiss coach Raphael Wicky broke down.
Unfortunately for Mowbray though, he could not evoke the spirit of his promotion-winning side the first time he was at the club, as West Brom slipped away from play-off contention, which ultimately led to the loss of his job in late April.
Former Albion midfielder James Morrison took caretaker charge for the rest of the season, but it appears that it will be an external appointment at the Midlands outfit this summer - let's take a look and see the latest updates on Shilen Patel and co's search for a new head coach.
Ever since Mowbray departed, it has appeared that Tottenham coach Ryan Mason is the main target for the job, should he want to step into management for the first time.
Alan Nixon reported on April 22 that the 33-year-old was indeed being hunted by the Albion hierarchy, but a further update emerged last weekend that Spurs' run in the UEFA Europa League was preventing the club from making a move to try and enter talks with him.
Since then, Spurs have qualified for the final of the competition, where they will face Man United on May 21, and that will of course lead to further holdbacks when it comes to West Brom and Mason, given he is one of Ange Postecoglou's right-hand men.
Bookmaker odds can sometimes tell you a lot, but other times when it come to manager sagas, it only takes one dabble to move a manager up the list, and that appears to have happened with Portsmouth boss John Mousinho.
Fresh off a successful first season managing in the Championship with the south coast outfit, Mousinho shot up the odds recently, but it appears that he won't be departing Fratton Park anytime soon.
However, The News have reported that no moves have been made by anyone connected to Albion to sound out the 39-year-old over the job, and whilst that's not to say that it may not happen in the future, it appears that Mousinho is pretty settled at Pompey.
It will be interesting to see however if West Brom do end up turning to Mousinho though, given how his side defied the odds many times in 2024-25 to comfortably remain in the Championship for another year.
One name that was of particular interest back in December and January when West Brom were on the hunt for Valencia-bound Corberan's replacement was then-Swansea City manager Luke Williams.
Known for wanting his sides to play out from the back pretty much at all times, Williams reportedly emerged as a target for Albion, and after initially refusing to shut down the speculation, he did eventually commit to Swansea - just over a month before being sacked.
Out of work after being axed by the Welsh outfit, Williams is not someone that should be near the job this time around, according to FLW's Baggies fan pundit Callum Burgess.
“I’d be very surprised to see Luke Williams linked anywhere near to the Albion job, especially after what happened the last time supposed interest arose in him,” Callum told FLW.
“He didn't handle it very well at Swansea, and it seemed like his agent was trying to get him a decent move or a new contract there, just for things to go absolutely downhill.
“When the interest in Williams came, initially I was open to him becoming the Albion manager, because I don't mind the style of football he likes to play.
“However, that ship has definitely sailed now. I've been surprised to see the calibre of jobs he’s been linked to since leaving Swansea, League One and League Two jobs.
"But I, definitely think that ship has now sailed for Albion.”
