West Brom looked to have pulled off a coup in 2008 when they announced the signing of Aston Villa striker Luke Moore.

Moore had come up through the ranks at Villa Park and had made 91 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and registering two assists.

In January 2008, Moore departed Villa Park on loan to join fellow West Midlands rivals West Brom, who were battling for promotion to the Premier League at the time.

The move saw Moore move on loan until the end of the season, before joining on a permanent basis at the end of the season for a fee of £3.5million, according to The Mirror.

The Baggies were subsequently promoted to the Premier League ahead of the 2009/10 season, and the expectations were that Moore would hit the ground running in the top-flight of English football, but that wasn't the case, far from it.

After joining the Baggies on loan in the Championship, Moore struggled in front of goal and actually failed to score a goal in his 10 league appearances, which was a bit of a worry, but with the club gaining promotion, the expectation was that he would come good.

However, that was far from the case, and with injuries and a lack of form, Moore made just five Premier League starts, and played just 23 games in all competitions, scoring once, as the Baggies were immediately relegated to the Championship after just one season.

Moore was tipped to leave the Hawthorns that summer, but new manager Roberto Di Matteo was impressed with the striker's performances in pre-season, and decided to keep him at the club.

He actually made a bright start to the new campaign, scoring a brace against Peterborough United on the third weekend of the season, but it didn't last, and in total he scored just four times in 29 games.

Moore's time at The Hawthorns clearly wasn't working, and after just one early League Cup appearance during the 2010/11 season, he was allowed to join Derby County on loan.

That spelled the end of his Baggies career, and he left the club in January 2011 on a permanent basis when he joined Swansea City.

Luke Moore joined a Swansea side that were building for promotion during the 2010/11 season, and he scored three times to help the club reach the play-offs.

He came off the bench in all three of the play-off games, helping Swansea reach the Premier League for the first time in their history.

With the club in the Premier League, he struggled for playing time, although he did play 20 times in total, making three starts and scoring two goals, including the winner against Manchester City.

Five goals in 19 games would follow during the 2012/13 season, before Moore left the club and moved to Turkish side Elazigspor briefly, before trying his luck in the MLS.

Spells with Chivas USA and Toronto brought an end to Moore's career in 2016, in what was a slightly nomadic ending to his footballing days.
