Werder Bremen have relieved Marvin Ducksch (31) of his first-team duties in order to engineer a move to a new club. The Bundesliga side confirmed that they have reached an agreement with the player’s management to pause his training in order to undergo final talks before completing a medical assessment.
As reported on Tuesday, the club is Birmingham City. Ducksch will join the Championship club for a reported €2m plus bonuses with the Dortmund-native heading out of the exit door at Werder after four seasons with the Hanseatic club.
Ducksch featured in all but two Bundesliga games for Werder Bremen last season, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists, adding to his excellent tally of 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 league games during the 2023-24 campaign.
The German’s departure will also pave the way for SVW to complete a move for Andre Silva, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Werder. For Bremen to sign Silva, the Portuguese forward would need to lower his salary demands.
